Del Mar, California. Where the turf meets the surf... and sandy, coastal soil meets the clay-rich inland strata... tree pruning, planting, and preservation concerns will vary enormously.
Del Mar, like much of coastal North San Diego County, straddles the line between two separate bio zones: coastal sage scrub, and oak woodland. Because of this, proper tree selection is crucial—on some larger properties, what grows well on the east end may differ wildly from what thrives on the west end (the transition between zones is really that abrupt).
As area specialists, PRO TREES Certified Arborists possess the general experience and know-how required to maintain ISA certification, as well as the local expertise which can only come from proudly serving Del Mar, California and satisfying customers since 1976.
Obviously, when people think “Del Mar, California”, they think “Torrey pines”, and for good reason: The Torrey pine (Pinus torreyana), North America’s rarest pine, only occurs in the area including and surrounding Del Mar, California (and one of the channel islands). At PRO TREES, we specialize in the health, maintenance, and, occasionally (be sure to obtain a permit from the City), the removal of Torrey pines.
And while the Torrey pine is worthy of its legend, to be sure, it tends to steal all the glory from lesser-known but equally-majestic trees such as our own Del Mar Manzanita (Arctostaphylos glandulosa ssp. crassifolia), an endangered species which PRO TREES Certified Arborists advocate for the preservation of on a volunteer basis as part of the GreenSD.org initiative.
Which brings us to the most important thing about doing business with PRO TREES and other community-minded local enterprises: You know your money’s being spent twice, once for goods/services, and again when we give back.
